Maybe “write my book” has been on your to-do list for a while, or maybe you know it’s time to write your next book as a way to open the door for new business opportunities.
If 2025 is YOUR year for YOUR book, there are several strategies you can use to move it from your 2025 resolutions to your action steps.
1. Create a strategic plan for your book that aligns with your business goals. Want to create a new course but need to write the book that drives the content? Want a tool for coaching or training? Need a high-powered business card to drive business? First, identify the purpose for your book as it connects to its purpose for your work. Then, identify your thesis, targeted reader (your prospects), and your structural outline.
2. Develop a project plan for completing your book and put your plan on your calendar. If you need your book completed in the next six months and you plan to have six chapters, you’ll need to complete one chapter or more each month. Create benchmarks that will create urgency.
3. Enlist a coach and/or accountability team to help you stick to your commitments. A coach or writing group can hold your feet to the fire and ensure that you reach your benchmarks. Check out the services of Cathy Fyock for her one-on-one coaching, a hybrid coaching package, or her group coaching, PAGES. Cathy and her colleague Allie Pleiter will also offer a six-week Finish Your Book program this February (see details in this newsletter).
4. If you’ve had consistent trouble in reaching your goals around writing, figure out what’s holding you back from achieving these goals. It could be that your negative voice needs to be quieted or redirected.
Albert Pellessier was determined to write his book, but repeatedly found that he was placing that goal on his “back burner” even though it was an important goal. His book, which will be released this year, is titled What’s on Your Back Burner: Using Dormant Desire to Relight Your Fire.
Albert and Cathy are offering a special program that explores his own difficulty in getting the book off his back burner and achieving his publishing goals and will help you solve your back burner issues. See the information below to register for Albert’s free program about his journey and how YOU, too, can write your book this year!
You CAN achieve your goal of writing your first or next book in 2025! Put your plan together and work your plan!
